Course Overview

This unit involves the skills and knowledge pate required to load and unload goods and/or cargo. It includes loading and unloading goods and cargo, securing and protecting a load and completing all required documentation in accordance with relevant state or territory roads and traffic authority regulations and permit requirements. Work is performed under general supervision within a team environment. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

      *A learner must have some prior skills and knowledge of securing goods and cargo. If not, then the learner is expected to engage in unsupervised self-study for about 4 hours per day for 6 days prior to attempting the assessments.

    • Follow work health and safety (WHS) procedures and apply fatigue management strategies.
    • Develop safe heavy vehicle driving behaviours and comply with Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements.
    • Apply critical thinking, use digital technologies, and collaborate effectively in the workplace.
    • Implement and monitor WHS policies and manage your personal work priorities and professional development.
