Course Overview

The Load Restraint Course combines two nationally recognised units of competency that equip learners with the practical skills and knowledge to secure, load, and unload goods and cargo safely in line with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Learners may choose to complete both units as a bundled program or undertake each unit individually, depending on their training needs and workplace requirements.

Duration & Volume of Learning

    • Combined Course: Approx. 50 hours
      • Theory: 4 hours
      • Practical simulation/observation: 4 hours
      • Self-directed learning –2 weeks with approximately 4 hours per day (this may vary based on prior knowledge and experience of a learner)
    • Individual Units:
      • TLIA1001 Secure Cargo (Volume of Learning – 20 hours)
      • TLID0015 Load and Unload Goods/Cargo (Volume of Learning – 30 hours)

    Duration: Units of competency listed above are delivered as standalone units over 4 hours each. This includes face-to-face theory followed by practical demonstration.

    • Secure cargo, containers, and equipment in line with safety procedures and regulations.
    • Lash, unlash, and protect cargo from weather damage.
    • Safely load and unload goods/cargo using correct manual handling techniques.
    • Apply industry documentation and reporting requirements. 

    Work effectively in a team environment, following WHS procedures.

    Covers skills to secure, lash/unlash, and protect cargo.
  • TLID0015 Load and Unload Goods/Cargo
    Covers skills to safely load/unload goods, secure and protect loads, and complete documentation.
