Learn to manage workplace safety — WHS law, consultation, risk management and incident response — and build towards WHS officer and coordinator roles.
This qualification applies to people working in work health and safety roles who provide a broad range of technical knowledge and skills and may have limited responsibility for the output of others. It supports supervisors, WHS personnel and workers in WHS-related roles to manage risks, apply relevant WHS laws and contribute to workplace health and safety in established or changing contexts.
Learners may enter directly. Relevant workplace experience in WHS, supervision, operations, administration, construction, transport, logistics or other industry environments may support participation but is not mandatory.
Graduates may progress to BSB51319 Diploma of Work Health and Safety, subject to meeting its entry requirements, or to other relevant higher-level business, leadership, risk or WHS qualifications.
Job outcomes depend on your previous experience, employer requirements and labour-market conditions. Completing this course does not guarantee employment.
Duration. 26 weeks (2 x 12-week terms plus 2 weeks of holidays). Maximum course duration: 52 weeks.
Delivery mode. Blended delivery incorporating face-to-face classroom theory, trainer-led activities, practical and simulated workplace activities, structured self-study and assessment.
