Getting a traffic control card depends on your state or territory. The general steps on how to get one are:
Complete Training: Includes the traffic training course and a white card(for construction and traffic management worksites)
Apply for Accreditation: Contact your state or territory’s transport authority. You must provide proof of identification, completed training, a declaration of offence history and medical fitness, and the application fee.
The last requirement is to pass a theory and/or practical assessment as part of the accreditation process.
After completing the course, you must get a traffic control card. You won’t be able to start work until you have your traffic control card. You can apply for your traffic control card after you’ve completed your training. This will take a couple of months to come through, depending on where you are located in Australia

The traffic controller card does not expire, but you must take a refresher course every 2 or 3 years to keep its validity.
To renew your card, you must complete the required refresher training, submit a renewal application to the relevant transport authority, and pay the renewal fee.
