Additionally, you’ll need to read The Code of Practice for Worksite Safety - Traffic Management (CoP) to ensure you meet all requirements to become a traffic controller in Victoria.

The qualification is valid for 3 years from the date of the course. To maintain it after that date, a traffic controller refresher course must be undertaken.

    • Check tools and equipment for maintenance requirements and create reports for these concerns.

    • Identify, confirm, clarify and apply environmental protection requirements.
  • Controlling Traffic

    • Learn how to position or confirm traffic signs and barriers

Getting a traffic control card depends on your state or territory. The general steps on how to get one are:

Complete Training: Includes the traffic training course and a white card(for construction and traffic management worksites)

Apply for Accreditation: Contact your state or territory’s transport authority. You must provide proof of identification, completed training, a declaration of offence history and medical fitness, and the application fee.

The last requirement is to pass a theory and/or practical assessment as part of the accreditation process.

After completing the course, you must get a traffic control card. You won’t be able to start work until you have your traffic control card. You can apply for your traffic control card after you’ve completed your training. This will take a couple of months to come through, depending on where you are located in Australia
