Entry Requirements
Must be minimum 18 years of age and have photo I.D. that includes name, signature and date of birth & secondary ID.

Face-to-face theory session with and simulated workplace demonstration and observation of skills.

Victorian Worksafe Authority Assessment. Theory & Practical Training within TDT warehouse, WorkSafe assessment on completion of course.

Theory: A Forklift Course learner guide is provided upon booking, and it must be read in order to complete the written theory and calculations assessments successfully.

*Verbal test available at an extra cost

Practical: Pre-Operational checks of forklift and working area, negotiating hazards, shifting loads, placing loads in and out of racking, loading & unloading trucks and shut down procedures.

Resources: Gas & Electric powered, automatic counterbalance forklifts. Reach Truck also available.

Assessment: Victorian Worksafe Authority Assessment

Note: Onsite training & testing is available upon request. Minimum numbers and WorkSafe criteria apply.

Licenses are valid for 5 years in Victoria. You will be required to renew it after this time or will need to retake the test.

  • Minimum age requirement: 18 years
  • A written enrolment form.
  • Unique Student Identifier (USI)- every student must have a verified USI without which unit of competency will not be issued.
  • LLND test prior to enrolment. Applicant must demonstrate the language, literacy and numeracy required at least AQF level 2.
  • A Pre-Training Review prior to enrolment to determine the support needs of individual learners and provides access to the educational and support services necessary for the individual learner to meet the requirements of the training product.
  • Photo ID must be brought on the day of enrolment that includes full name, signature and date of birth & a secondary ID.

(The LLND assessment is utilised to assess if a student has the ability to complete the training at the required level of competency and for TDT to assess the level of support required in this regard in order to provide the student with a reasonable opportunity to complete the unit of competency. The LLND assessment usually takes place during the pre-training review, where support needs are assessed and plans are put into place to achieve the best outcome for the student)

Student Support

All students are provided with a range of learning support options and resources to help them achieve competency. This includes:

  • Support from appropriately qualified trainers including through phone and email contact details.
  • Reasonable adjustments to assessment materials as required based on individual learning needs.
  • Referral to external support services such as the Reading Writing Hotline.
  • You may not have studied for a while, may have English as a second language or need additional assistance with literacy or numeracy. We will identify any additional support needs you may have at the time of application and enrolment and may prepare a Student Support Plan for you based on those needs.
  • TDT Training Australia aims to provide quality training and assessment services that comply with 2025 Standards for RTOs and will issue an AQF Statement of Attainment once you are deemed competent in this unit of competency.

There are no pre-requisites to enrol in this unit of competency. Anyone who meets entry requirements can enrol in this unit of competency.

Important Information: Course duration/costs do not guarantee students will sit the on road licence test. To be eligible to test, students MUST first meet VicRoads criteria. If criteria are NOT met students will not be able to undergo the on road test and will continue to train for the duration of the course. Additional costs will apply if students book subsequent training and/or testing.

TDT Training Australia forklift licences cost from $495. Our full course lasts two days and takes 16 hours to complete. We provide a high level of teaching and support to all students so you can get the forklift certification you need.
You can get training for a forklift licence in Melbourne and across Victoria. Our training locations include Hallam, Bendigo, Sale, Ballarat and Sunshine. A Victorian forklift licence will remain valid for 5 years (after which a forklift renewal to WorkSafe will need to be paid). At TDT Training Australia, we will teach you the skills to safely and efficiently operate a forklift. Our courses are run over two days so that we can teach all of the necessary skills to students. You can expect a combination of theory and practical learning, along with assessments that test your ability to safely operate a forklift.

If your licence has expired, please check with WorkSafe Victoria prior. If Worksafe does not renew your licence, you will have to sit a complete 2 day course again to re-obtain your licence.

Upon successful completion of the course and assessment, you’ll be awarded a Statement of Attainment and Notice of Assessment, allowing you to apply for your WorkSafe Forklift Licence.
If you don’t pass the initial assessment, re-assessment opportunities are available. We’ll work with you to ensure you understand the material and can succeed.
