This qualification is for individuals who perform a range of known driving routine tasks and procedures within the transport and logistics industry.
Successful completion of the qualification will require competence in units of competency that relate to the job role requirements defined as aligned at AQF level 3. This qualification is designed to provide skills and knowledge for driving operation job roles within the Transport and Logistics Industry and specifically for job roles relating to heavy general freight.

Participants learn about the responsible handling of and caring for their vehicles, safety and fatigue management, load handling and transport of goods, securing cargo, and navigation and route planning. Licensing, legislative and regulatory requirements apply to this qualification.

This qualification is achieved by ‘successfully completing’ all the nominated core and elective units. This can be achieved by participating in training sessions, completing assignments and by demonstrating your ability by putting the learning into practice under real road conditions.

The entry requirements for this program are
There are no entry requirements. However applicants must demonstrate the language, literacy and numeracy required at least level 3. An LL&N assessment is conducted at pre-enrolment to assess if you require support in this regard.
The competency assessment will be
- Demonstration of knowledge through written/oral answers and projects
- Demonstration of driving and workplace skills through practical assessment based on legislative and regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Training will consist of face-to-face training in a classroom environment. Plus practical training will be given in a simulated or workplace setting by a qualified trainer and assessor.
