“Not just a licence but a real qualification providing real jobs for real people”

TDT Training Australia was started by Dave Roberts, who – after spending many years in transport and millions of kilometres on the road – decided to use his experience to start a training organisation 25 years ago. When the business first started, it focused primarily on truck licensing but it was soon evident to Dave that there was a strong demand for additional services and delivery in rural locations. Thus the business developed from strength to strength, becoming fully accredited to deliver a full range of courses. In 2008, Dave retired to a more relaxed lifestyle in Queensland and hand over the reigns to his son Brett, while remaining as a Director of the business.

Brett Roberts took over as CEO of TDT Training Australia after forging his own successful career in education and completing his BSc Honours and PhD in Chemistry. Brett spent some years as a synthetic chemistry researcher/lecturer at Monash University before taking up a post with the American Chemical Society, educating his peers and travelling around the world.

On becoming CEO, Brett realised he needed to develop his own skills in running a business and completed diplomas in Marketing, Business and Management. To gain a better understanding of TDT’s core focus, he earned his truck licences (HC), forklift and CI card plus many more. He has continued to develop his business skills and is currently enrolled in a Masters Degree of Business. Brett is happily married with four children and likes to spend time pursuing his interests of cars, bikes and martial arts.

Brett has also established a separate logistics business, TDT Logistics. TDT Training works alongside TDT Logistics to provide students with real-world experience, not just simulated training. For the past five years, Brett has been heavily involved in the development and growth of TDT, serving his time on committees with VicRoads and the Victorian Transport Association, as well as acting as a High Risk Work assessor when required. He has a passion for training and development, and a focus on ensuring that TDT Training Australia continue to deliver training and assessment above and beyond.
